  Wildlife in Madhya Pradesh

BANDHAVGARH & KANHA

Review:

This safari explores the famous Khajuraho erotic temples beside two major wildlife sanctuaries. Bhandavgarh's undulating terrain with 22 hills of which the main one, rises 400 Mt. above its surrounding. Sal and mixed forest with bamboo brakes. Open grassland to the south where village land has been reclaimed. It provides excellent game viewing and bird life, which includes Tiger, Leopard, Gaur, Chital and many more can be seen on elephant back or by a jeep.  Kanha National Park is considered to be India's greatest national park, the area is certainly an excellent place to view many species in their natural habitat. Kanha is the first park which has proven successful in wildlife conservation where the population of swamp deer increased from about 66 in the late 1960's to over 450 by 1985.
