 Sunderbans cruise begin from a traditional village of West Bengal “Basanti” which is accessible from Calutta by a motor vehicle. At
Basanti, we board the local motorized craft and cruise down to a typical and interesting village Gosaba, after exploring the village, market and purchase provision for next few nights, particularly small cat fish and fresh prawns, we continue to Sajnakhali forest lodge.
After exploration, a day or two later, trace back the way to Basanti or Canning the port for the local fishing river-crafts.Now a newer version of water cruise is “Ganga heritage”, operated by West Bengal tourism, with a more modern motorized river craft, a bit more comfortable experience. The trip begins from Beharampur, a few hours drive from Calcutta.
This three days (two nights) cruise travels through some of the heritage sites of West Bengal, such as Murshidabad, Lal Bagh, Palashi, Mayapur Kalna Chandannagar, Belur and terminates at Calcutta.
