This short tour of explores few highlights
to tastes south Indian culture and admire the architectural heritage
sites. To begin with we have orientation tour of Chennai, then move to
Bangalore modern capital of Karnataka state, whose beginning goes back
to 1537 when a petty chieftain, Kempe Gowda, built a mud fort on a hill.
Today, it is a sprawling city, one of the fastes growing in India,
covering 130 Sq Km. and attracting industry and commerce. We spend a
night in Hassan which will provide us enough time to explore 17th
century Belure and Halebid. We return to Chennai for onward journey. |

DAY 01. ARRIVE CHENNAI
Arrive
Chennai meet and transfer to hotel. Afternoon
orientation tour of the city. Chennai is capital of Tamil Nadu state and fourth
largest of Indian cities after Bombay, Calcutta and Delhi
DAY 02. CHENNAI –
MAHABALIPURAM – CHENNAI
Drive 117 Km 3 Hrs.
Morning
depart for full day tour of Kanchipuram,
erstwhile capital of Pallavas and Cholas, full of temples and tanks. After
exploration of Kanchipuram drive to Mahabalipuram
the 7th century port city of Pallavas with number of monuments
and rock-cut monoliths displaying fine sculpture. Evening return to Chennai
hotel.
DAY 03. CHENNAI –
BANGALORE
Fly
Morning
transfer to airport and fly to Bangalore the capital of Karnataka state, arrive
and transfer to hotel. Afternoon city sightseeing tour.
Bangalore located 1000m above sea level, this bustling capital city of
Karnataka, has a perpetual holiday atmosphere. Founded in 1537 by a local
chieftain Kempe Gowda, Bangalore has seen much and imbibed even more. To day it
is a sprawling city, one of the fastest growing in India. Winston Churchill once
lived here in one of the earliest clubs set up by the British. Indeed, at one
time, Bangalore was a little British Island in the south, with a distinct
British flavor, and old British connections remain evident in such names as
Richmond Town, Cox Town and Russel Market.
DAY 04. BAGALORE –
MYSORE
Drive 139 Km 3 Hrs.
Morning
drive to Mysore, en-route visit Srirangapatnam,
Once Tipu Sultan’s capital, who has shown waging war against the British. Mysore,
capital of the erstwhile princely state, is
famous for Jasmine fragrance, silk
and sandalwood, palaces and its leisurely way of life. Arrive and check in at
hotel. Afternoon city tour.
DAY 05. MYSORE – HASSAN
Drive 120 Km 2 ˝ Hrs.
Morning
depart and drive to Hassan, arrive and check in at hotel.
Afternoon visit Belure, 800
years old capital of Hoysala kings is today famous for superb Chenna Keshava
temple built in 1117 and Helibid
again a capital of Hoyasalas is know for its Hoysaleshwara temple
dedicated to Lord Shiva built in 1150.
DAY 06. HASSAN -
BANGALORE Drive 187 4 Hrs. CHENNAI Fly
Morning
visit Sravanabelgola, a renowned jain pilgrimage center with 17 meter high
statue atop indrigiri hill. A flight of 614 rock cut steps lead to the statue.
Afternoon drive to Bangalore airport and fly to Chennai. Arrive and transfer to
hotel for overnight.
DAY 07. DEPARTURE
Transfer
to airport for onward destination.
