Review:

This is another interesting trek
which involves high passes, we drive to Manikaran in the Kullu
valley and trek over few high passes and gradually gain the
height from 1700 M. to above 4800 M. then descend in to Spiti
vally where we will visit some of the most remote and exotic
monasteries including Ki and Kiber. |

DAY 01. ARRIVE DELHI
Morning arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel.
Afternoon combined guided tour of Old and
New Delhi
includes Jammia Masjid Mosque, Cycle rickshaw ride through
Chandni chowk, Red Fort, drive through India Gate and
Parliament house. And finally explore Qutab Minar and Humayuns
Tomb.
DAY 02. DELHI – MANDI
Drive 455 Km
Morning depart and drive to Mandi (760 M.).
Lying along the left bank of the river Beas in the foothills
of Shivalik ranges. Known for its temples, Mandi is the home
of a number of beautifully carved stone edifices each with an
elaborate shikhara or spire, among them Bhuthath, Triloknath,
Panchvaktra and Shyamakoli at Tarna hill. Arrive and check in
at hotel.
DAY 03. MANDI - MANIKARAM
Drive 80 Km
Depart and drive to Manikaran (1737 M.). It is
a famous for its hot water springs, trout fishing and
Ramchandraji’s temple. It is motorable up to Manikaran bridge
and the rest 200 meters on foot. Apart from been base for
adventure sports, it also is pilgrimage center for various
religions, mainly for Hindus. Arrive and camp / guesthouse for
overnight.
DAY 04 & 14. MANIKARAN - GULLING
Trek
Today we
commence this trekking expedition from Manikaran, this morning
it will take us bit longer to get ready in order to distribute
the load on pack ponies / porters. The trek, almost flat goes
through apple orchards to Pulga at an altitude of 2100
Mt. the distance will be covered with in 3 to 4 hours. Our
next stage gradually ascends to Kheer Ganga at the height of
2850 Mt. it will take about 4 – 5 hours, it is an open valley
and placed very scenically. Now another five hours gradual
ascend will take us to Bhojtunda (3200 Mt.). first we
ascend to gorge then valley widens and the trail crosses
several beautiful pastures of mountain flora. This is the last
point with human habitation of Gujar / Gaddi shepherds. Our
another stage will be covered over some rocky terrain and
dense vegetation within 4 to 5 hours to Thakur Kuan or
Khan (3400 Mt.) above a cliffs. By now we are acclimatized to
the height and climate, the trekking stretchs are now longer,
the new stage will be covered with in 6 – 7 hours which passes
through Pandu bridge with various ups and downs through flower
meadows as well as about 200 Mt. steep ascend over boulders to
Mantalai Lake (4070 Mt.).
Our
next stage to Mantalai lake High camp is comparatively bit
difficult, goes through terminal moraine, cairns, boulders and
scree, the distance will be covered in about 7 hours. Now it
is the day to cross the legendry Pin Parbati pass (4810
Mt.) in to Pin valley. First 300 m steep climb will take us to
a snow field, a Col and the stage will be covered with in 5
hours or so. Our next stage is an about 8 hours descend
towards valley floor and Mud village at an altitude of 3600
Mt. The last two stages are almost all the way downhill to the
road head at Gulling situated at a height of 3500 Mt.
DAY 15. GULLING – KAZA Drive
35 Km
Today we bid goodbye to our carvan of ponies /
porters and we drive to Kaza, en route visit Dhankar
Monastery. Arrive Kaza and check in at hotel / guest house /
camp. Afternoon we drive a short distance to explore Ki and
Kibber monastery / villages.
DAY
16. KAZA – MANALI Drive
156 Km 10 Hrs.
Early
morning depart and drive through Panoramic villages / valleys,
over Kunzum La Pass (4551 Mt.) down to Lahul Valley.
Before descending in to Kullu valley we have to tackle one
more Pass “the Rohtang Pass” (3990 Mt.). arrive Manali and
check in at hotel.
DAY 17. IN MANALI
Full day to explore this picturesque town
surrounded by lush green forests with snow Capped mountain
peaks. This important fruit growing valley district produces
apples, apricots, cherries, pears, peaches and plums.
Craftwork here includes shawls, Kulu caps, jewelry and home
spun tweed garments. Manali itself is in a lovely position,
surrounded by dense forests and mountains.
DAY 18. MANALI - CHANDIGARH
Drive 370 Km 11 Hrs.
After breakfast daylong drive
to Chandigarh. We leave behind the mountainous high altitude
area and descend into Chandigarh, a well-laid city designed by
a team of famous French architect Le Corbusier assisted by his
cousin, Jeanneret and an English couple, Maxwell Fry and Jane
Drew. Arrive and check in at hotel.
DAY
19. CHANDIGARH –
DELHI Drive 245 Km 5
Hrs.
Morning depart and drive to Delhi, via plains
of Punjab and Harayana. Arrive Delhi and check-in at hotel for
overnight stay. Remainder of the day at leisure.
DAY 20. DEPARTURE
Transfer to airport for onward journey.
