ELEPHANT SAFARI PLUS GOLDEN TRIANGLE

Review:

Elephants are being used for various laborious jobs in India, ride up to Amber fort / Palace in Jaipur on a decorated elephant back is a unique experience. Beside jumbos are mean of transport for game viewing through various wildlife sanctuaries and parks. This itinerary goes bit beyond, provides 5 days safari through famous wildlife park 'The Corbett" and wander through its jungle thus giving a chance to site some exotic wildlife. In addition visit the famous Taj Mahal, Rajput highlight in Jaipur and fresco painted house in Shekhawati (Nawalgarh) Rajasthan.

DAY 01.   ARRIVE DELHI                                                                                                               Morning arrive Delhi and transfer to hotel. Afternoon combined guided tour of Old and New Delhi includes Jammia Masjid Mosque, Cycle rickshaw ride through Chandni chowk, Red Fort, drive through India Gate and Parliament house, Qutab Minar and Humayuns Tomb. 

DAY 02.   DELHI - CORBET                  Drive 296 Km 6 ½ Hrs.
 
Morning depart and drive to Corbet National Park, lunch on arrival. Afternoon park safari by jeep. Overnight lodge.

Corbett National Park, India’s first national park and also one of her finest. This National Park was one of the first tiger reserves along with seven others in the country; today there are 15 such reserves. Over 50 mammals, 580 bird and 25 reptile species have been listed in Corbett. Corbett is well known for tigers, leopards, leopard cat, jungle cat, fishing cat, sloth bear, Himalayan black bear, dhole, jackal, yellow-throated marten, Himalayan palm civet etc. Elephants are one of the main attractions of Corbett. Most of the water birds are migrants and arrive in winter. Some of these are the greylag, barheaded goose, ducks, great crested grebe, snipe, sandpiper, plover, gull, wagtail and many more.

DAY 03.   COMMENCE ELEPHANT SAFARI 
Leave after an early breakfast to Durga Devi, here Elephants will be ready to commence the safari. The journey passes through stately Sal Forest towards Ramganga River. Many species of birds and small animals can be seen on the way. Continuing onto the Mandal Valley, we stop by the river banks for picnic lunch. After lunch our elephants will take us through very dense forest to Loharchaur, for overnight stay at the Forest Bungalow.

DAY 04.   ELEPHANT SAFARI
After an early after breakfast we continue safari through the Mandal Valley, famous for its Wild Elephants, Deer and a good variety of birds of the lower Himalayas. We climb up the mountain over looking Corbett National Park and stay at Kanda Forest Bungalow for overnight.

DAY 05.   ELEPHANT SAFARI  
Leaving the Mandal valley behind, now we travel through Palain Valley, where chances of seeing the Tiger are excellent. Thick bamboo forest now gives way to terraced farms in the valley and the view of the foothills of the Himalayas is fabulous. We end our day at Mondiapani, where we will spend the night.

DAY 06 & 07.   ELEPHANT SAFARI 
Today we enter Sonanadi Sanctuary and travel through bamboo forest along the Palain River to Halduparao. The junction of Palain and Sonanadi River is very rich in wildlife. We will spend two nights at Halduparao Forest rest house.

DAY 08.   TO CORBETT 
Morning leave for final leg of safari to corbett arrive and check – in at hotel.

DAY 09.   CORBETT PARK - AGRA          Drive 420 Km 10 ½ Hrs. 
After an early breakfast we leave for Agra and drive through various country roads and sate highways. Arrive Agra in the late afternoon and check - In at hotel for two nights.

DAY 10.   IN AGRA
Explore:- Sikandara - the tomb of emperor Akbar, the mausoleum was begun by Akbar himself, but was completed in 1613, in the reign of Jehangir, Agra Fort- built by Akbar as his citadel over the years 1565 - 73 in the finest architectural style, and the Taj Mahal - the mausoleum of empress Mumtaz Mahal, the beloved spouse of Shah Jahan, who died in 1930. The complex is said to have taken at least 18 years (1631 - 48) to built.

DAY 11.   AGRA - BHARATPUR            Drive 56 Km 4 Hrs. 
After breakfast drive to Bharatpur, en - route visit Fatehpur Sikri, deserted capital of Emperor Akbar, the finest monuments are the cloistered Diwan i am; the single-pillared Diwan i Khas; the astrologer's kiosk; the Turkish sultan's house with minute carvings; the storied pavilion called Panch Mahal; Mariyam's house with its interesting painting; the ornate house o Birbal; Jodhabai's grand palace; and the Jamia Masjid complex, with its pillared hall, monumental portal (Buland Darwaza) and charming tomb of Saint Sheikh Salim Chesti which is visited by many seeking fulfillment of their wishes.

From Fatehpur Sikri short drive of 19 Km to Bharatpur, arrive and check - In at hotel. Here we go for Cycle Rickshaw Safari to explore the Keoladeo National Park a water bird sanctuary - habitat to hundreds of species of birds many of them are migratory.  

DAY 12.   BHARATPUR - JAIPUR                       Drive 176 Km 4 Hrs.
Early in the morning visit the park, after breakfast drive on to so called "Pink City" Jaipur. Arrive and check - in at hotel for two nights . Rest of the day at leisure.

DAY 13.   IN JAIPUR
Morning, drive to Amber fort built by Maharaja Man Singh (1592 -1615 AD.) climb upto fort out on ornamented elephants to advance the massive gates and the monuments. Return to Jaipur for Lunch. Afternoon city sightseeing includes Hawa Mahal constructed in 1799. This five storey building, overlooking the main street of the bustling old city, is a stunning example of Rajput artistry, with pink, delicately honeycombed sandstone windows. City Palace, in the heart of the old city, the outer wall was built by Jai Singh, but other additions are much more recent, some dating from the start of the 20th century. Jantar Mantar an observatory begun by Jai Singh in 1728. The Jaipur observatory is the largest and best preserved of the five he built and was restored in 1901. and Market. 

DAY 14.   JAIPUR – NAWALGARH                     Drive 168 Km 4 Hrs. 
Morning drive to Mandawa via busy roads of Chemo and Sikar. Arrive Mandawa and check-in at hotel for overnight stay. Afternoon explore the painted Havelies on foot. Mandawa lies in the heart of  Shekhavati and it was founded by Thakur Nawal Singh in 1755. From the mid 19th century till 1930s, Shekhavati prospered. Large painted Havelies (town houses) were built in every village by rich business men, finally abandoned by their occupants for better prospects in Bombay, Calcutta and other commercial cities.  

DAY 15.   NAWALGARH – DELHI                        Drive 240 Km 6 Hrs.
Morning drive through spectacular village roads to Delhi. Arrive Delhi, check - in at hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. 

DAY 16.   DEPARTURE                                                                                                                    Transfer to airport for onward journey.
